The method for determining the tolerances and allowances of wheel forgings is determined according to the type of die forging equipment and the shape and size of the wheel forgings.

 

Die forging slope: Because the wheel forging is formed in the die forging die cavity, the wheel forging is clamped due to the elastic recovery of the four walls of the die cavity. In order to facilitate the removal of the wheel forging from the die cavity, the wall of the die cavity must be made to a certain slope, and the side of the wheel forging should also have the same slope. Because the slope will increase the loss of metal and machining allowance, the smallest die forging slope should be selected as much as possible. The selection of the inclination is described in the forging of tire molds, and will not be repeated here.

 

Fillet radius: Because the flow speed of metal in the die cavity is more intense than the forging of tire molds when die forging on the hammer, the influence of the fillet radius in the die cavity on the wheel forging is more significant. If the outer radius is too small, the fibers formed by metal flow will be cut off during die forging, which will cause the mechanical properties of the wheel forging to decline, and may also cause the wheel forging to be scrapped due to folding, and in the forging, the forging die is easily crushed and deformed. This affects the forging of the wheel. However, if the fillet radius is increased, the machining allowance and metal consumption will increase.
