The modification of the wheel hub often has the effect of standing up to the root and seeing the shadow on the improvement of the car's appearance value, and it will also have a certain impact on the vehicle's controllability, comfort, power performance, etc., while the modification of the wheel hub also has certain rules and the choice of modifiable items, which cannot be done blindly.

Modified hub

1、 Upgrade of hub size the overall size of the imported hub is to increase the hub width and diameter by 2 inches and 1 inch (inch is expressed in inches below). That is to say, increase the hub width and diameter by 2 inches or 1 inch at the same time on the basis of the original hub. For example, the original hub with 14 × 6 inches is equipped with 205 / 70 R14 tires, and the modified hub with 15 × 7 inches is equipped with 215 / 16 tires R15 tire can widen the tire and keep the tire diameter unchanged.

2、 The upgrading of wheel hub width and quality is not only to upgrade the tire, but also to upgrade the wheel hub. The wheel hub can be selected only after the tire to be replaced is determined, and the width of the wheel hub can be determined after the diameter is determined. Besides, the shape of wheel hub is determined by the material of wheel hub. The performance of aluminum magnesium alloy wheel hub (light weight, good rigidity, heat dissipation and easy shape) is better than that of steel wheel hub.

3、 The PCD value of hub installation dimension (PCD value is the diameter of wheel hub pitch circle, which represents the distance from the center of each hole to the edge of the circle) is generally written as 4 × 100 or 5 × 114.3, etc. The diameter of the circle formed by connecting bolt holes is 100 mm or 114.3 mm. Install four or five bolts.

Offset to the outer hub

4、 Another dimension parameter for hub offset upgrade is offset. If the center line of the hub is in the same plane as the installation bottom surface of the hub, the offset of the hub is zero; if the bottom of the hub is offset outwards, the offset of the hub is positive, and the offset inwards is negative. It's what we usually call the "outside eight" and "inside eight".

The effect of hub offset on the vehicle is as follows:

1. Changing the track width may cause eccentric tire wear, heavy steering wheel, or even shaking steering wheel.

2. The steering characteristics of the vehicle will change, increasing the front wheel track and increasing the understeer characteristics.

3. After the wheels move outward, the suspension becomes soft due to the change of lever ratio.

5、 After upgrading the hub offset, the wheel track will change due to the different width of the hub. The size of the offset may also cause hub interference. If the offset of the hub is not appropriate, the offset gasket can be used to correct it.
