Forging Wheel Forging Process

In the free forging production of wheel forgings, upsetting is a very important deformation process. The reasonable selection of upsetting process parameters plays a decisive role in the quality of wheel forgings. Repeated upsetting can not only improve the forging ratio of the billet, but also break the carbides in the alloy steel to achieve the purpose of uniform distribution; it can also improve the lateral mechanical properties of wheel forgings and reduce the anisotropy of mechanical properties.

Both cake forgings and wide plate forgings are mainly deformed by upsetting, and the amount of upsetting deformation is large. However, the current ultrasonic flaw detection rate of this type of forgings is very high, mainly due to the internal internal crack layer defects. However, The current process theory cannot explain this.

For this reason, since the 1990s, Chinese scholars have conducted in-depth research on the theory of upsetting from the theory of the main deformation zone and the passive deformation zone after a long period of serious research. The tensile stress theory of the rigid-plastic mechanical model and the shear stress theory of the hydrostatic mechanical model during flat upsetting are proposed. At the same time, a large number of qualitative physical simulation experiments are performed. Solve and analyze the stress state inside the workpiece. A large amount of data proves the rationality and correctness of the theory, reveals the distribution law of the internal stress when using an ordinary flat plate upset cylinder, and then proposes a new process for upsetting a conical plate A rigid-plastic mechanical model for upsetting of square cylinders is presented.
