The attention points to modify hub

With the development of automobile culture, more and more people play with refitting. And for those who don't know much about refitting cars, or for most people, the modification of wheel hub is the simplest and most easily found. Among them, the most common is to replace the large size wheel hub to improve the performance and appearance of the car.

 

Structure and classification

 

Wheel hub, mainly composed of rim and spoke. Generally speaking, it is the part where the axle is installed in the center of the wheel. It is an important part connecting the brake drum (or brake disc), wheel disc and axle shaft.

 

The rim is also known as the wheel rim, which is used to fit the tire assembly and support the tire. As for the spokes, the simplest understanding is the spokes that support the rim. All wheel hubs are made up of these parts.

 

As for classification, steel wheels are rare in China's automobile market, and aluminum alloy wheels (light alloy wheels) are used in most models. It can be divided into casting, forging and low pressure precision casting.

 

Gravity casting method: aluminum alloy solution is poured into the mold by gravity, and then processed and polished by lathe after forming to complete production. The manufacturing process is simple, does not need precise casting process, low cost and high production efficiency, but easy to produce bubbles (sand holes), uneven density, surface smoothness is not enough. Geely has quite a number of models equipped with this method of wheel hub production, mainly early production models, new models have been replaced by new wheel hub.

 

Forging method: the whole aluminum ingot is directly extruded on the die by a thousand ton press, which has the advantages of uniform density, smooth and fine surface, thin and light wheel hub wall, and the highest material strength, which is more than 30% higher than the casting method. However, due to the need for better production equipment, and the product rate is only 50% to 60%, the manufacturing cost is higher.

 

Low pressure precision casting method: under the low pressure of 0.1MPa, this casting method has good formability, clear contour, uniform density and smooth surface. It can not only achieve high strength and lightweight, but also control the cost, and the finished product is more than 90%. It is the mainstream manufacturing method of high-quality aluminum alloy wheel hub.

 

Furthermore, because of the different manufacturing methods, low-pressure precision casting method can design some lively thin strips, and the design freedom is relatively high.

Select three elements

 

1 Size

 

Do not enlarge the hub blindly. Some people increase the wheel hub to improve the performance of the car. Under the condition that the outer diameter of the tire remains unchanged, the large wheel hub is necessary to match with the wide and flat tire. The lateral swing of the car is small, and the stability is improved. It is like a dragonfly skimming the water when passing a bend.

 

But the more flat the tire, the thinner its thickness, the worse the shock absorption performance, so the greater sacrifice must be made in terms of comfort. In addition, a little stone and other roadblocks hit, the tire is easy to damage. Therefore, the cost of blindly increasing the wheel hub can not be ignored. Generally speaking, it is most appropriate to increase one or two sizes according to the size of the original wheel hub.

 

2 Three distances

 

This means that you can't choose your favorite shape as you like. It's best to listen to the technician's suggestion and consider whether the three distances (plane diameter of steel ring, width of steel ring, diameter of screw hole of steel ring) are appropriate.

 

3 Shape

 

The wheel hub with complex structure and dense structure is really beautiful and elegant, but it is easy to be refused or overcharged when washing the car because it is too troublesome to wash. The simple wheel hub is dynamic and clean. Of course, if you're not afraid of trouble, that's fine.

 

Compared with the iron casting wheel hub, the aluminum alloy wheel hub which is popular nowadays has greatly improved the anti deformation degree, greatly reduced the weight, small power loss, fast running, fuel saving and good heat dissipation.
